Mary and Ada's Cookbook

After all of these years and many, many requests, a Chippewa cookbook with all of Mary's (and Ada's) recipes will be ready for publication this summer. While preparing it for the printer this week, I ran across one of my favorites...their breakfast coffee cake. This coffee cake is always the final meal for the campers at camp, a quick breakfast before they jump on the bus to head home. Enjoy!

Sour Cream Coffee Cake
1 stick plus 2 TBS margarine
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teasp vanilla
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup water
2 cups flour
1 teasp soda
1 teasp baking powder
1/2 teasp salt

Cream the sugar and margarine. Add eggs, vanilla, sour cream and water. Mix in all dry ingredients. Put 1/2 of batter in a 9”x12” baking pan. Sprinkle half of the crumb topping (below). Add remaining batter. Top with remaining crumbs. Bake at 350O for 30 minutes or until done.

Crumb topping
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 teasp cinnamon
3T. butter or margarine

Well played, Mr. Mundt. Looks like it is intended to mean, 350 degrees.
