News from Summer 2012

A ferocious game of Predator-Prey is just under way around camp.  The polar bears, wolves and arctic fox teams are each vying for survival as they explore camp for food, water and shelter.  Just beware the opposing team's attack!

It's been an exciting start to our 77th summer.  The weather has been fantastic with day after day of cloudless, blue skies and even the lakes are a bit warmer than usual.  It makes for a perfect setting for camp 2012.

On the activity front, Lars F. captured Target of the Day today by shooting a 46 down on the rifle range.  Meanwhile, he just missed his Bowman in archery by 4 points.  Like Lars, there's been plenty of success for the campers in all of the activities.  A lower camp table tennis tournament crowned Antonio N. king of the 'court' for lower camp.  Ahead, expect news of a rifle tournament, fencing tournament and even a camper-counselor tennis tournament.  Sail races can't be too far behind!

To date, two Canadian canoe trips have already departed, the Wolverine River and the Flindt River trips.  We won't welcome these voyageurs back to camp until the session is nearly over.  Meanwhile, local canoe trips to the Crow Wing, Star Island and Knutson Dam have come and returned.  The official turtle count on the Crow Wing totaled 174 turtles.  Thanks Jean M. for such an accurate tally.  The guys from Olson are paddling the Voyageurs National Park while Demonia cabin is at Hook Island exploring and fishing the islands of Rainy Lake from our wilderness lodge.  Yes, the trip house has been buzzing.

It's difficult to believe that our Badger campers (two-weekers) will be leaving us early next week.  From opening night's scatterball game to tonight's haystack dinner, this has been an exciting two weeks for them.  Ahead is our annual Black Tie dinner to send them on their way home in style.

We'll continue to post updates on Tuesday and Friday, with an occasional post in between just for fun.
